absolute
wood. Absolute Wood provides 200 Proof
(100%) Acoustic Refreshment to Knoxville TN and the rest of the Southeast.
Whether at your favorite local pub, a private party, or a cozy campground
out in the middle of nowhere,
you can be sure that Absolute Wood will warm you on the inside, while
keeping your toes tapping and your booty shaking on the outside!

Formed in March of 2000, Absolute Wood has been described as "Drivin'
N Cryin' knocking heads with Edwin McCain." The band is composed of guitarist/vocalist
Matt Woods, and vocalist/percussionist Scott Sokoloski. Matt's powerful
vocals and straight-forward rocking
guitar style mingle perfectly with Scott's warm harmonies and sweet ballads,
making for an immensely-satisfying mix of rock, alternative, folk, R&B,
country, and blues.
In
addition to their work with Absolute Wood, both Matt and Scott have been
active in the music scene since the 1990s. After a successful solo acoustic
career that began in the mid-90s, native-Tennessean Matt served as the
lead singer and rhythm guitarist for the band Magpie Suite from 1998-2002.
A multitalented group with a unique sound and a solid fan base, Magpie
was named the Patrick Sullivan's Battle of the Bands Champion in 2001,
and released two rock-fueled CDs: "Cooking At Gina's" in 1999 and "Last
Minutes Of Daylight" in 2002. Matt's new project is the band Plan
A, which brings a more mature sound and the experience that comes
from years of touring and playing to packed houses across the Southeast. Their new CD, "The View Through These Words," is now available on their website.
Scott, an award-winning poet and songwriter, currently hails from Las
Vegas, Nevada. His singing career started when he appeared in various
musical and choral productions in the late 70s through the early 90s,
finishing with four years of formal voice training in college. He began
performing regularly throughout the Southeast in 1993 with various artists,
including Knoxville acoustic legends Tall Paul and David Landeo, with
whom he performed regularly from 1995-2001. He was also a member of the
All Vol Band from 1998-2002, a group of Knoxville artists organized in
support of the University of Tennessee Volunteers football team, and has
recently joined forces with Jean-Louis Lawson in an acoustic side-project called The Graceful Failures (a.k.a. "ScottSki & Jean-Louis"), and they have released a six-song CD, "Hello To Say Goodbye," which is available at his live shows. Check out his personal site at www.scottski.com.
Absolute Wood has brought their unique brand of excitement to
some of the best bars and restaurants in Knoxville,
including The Spot, Blue Chips, Prince Deli, Quaker Steak & Lube, Julio's Between The Buns, Cool Beans, Rick's Place, Charlie Peppers, La Costa, Cancun's, O'Charleys, Hops, and Boogie's, and have also jammed at local parties for UT Greek organizations
and Knoxville community members. They
have also performed at venues throughout Tennessee and the Southeast, including gigs
in Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

every show will have some new and old favorites, as well as the variety
that will keep you coming back week after week!
